Black Rod raps on
the door of the House of Representatives at the opening of parliament
to announce the governor general’s presence in the Senate. He fancies
a drop of Shiraz, too.
The 2002 vintage Shiraz,
from Blocks 1 and 2, is complex and dense with a wonderfully long
palate.
Vanillan oak, traces of
mint, olives, sweet ripe berries, smooth tannins, the Black Rod shows
what Granite Belt Shiraz can do. It has that Mmm... quality.
In good cellar conditions
this wine will continue to improve for at least six years. Food: lamb,
oxtail, strong cheese. Heck, who needs food! |
